A Little Conversation Goes a Long Way

This October, Eastgate is marking World Mental Health Day with a month focused on conversation, connection and community.

Sometimes the smallest interactions can make a difference. A quick chat over a coffee, checking in with someone, sharing a story or simply taking the time to listen can help us feel more connected to the people around us.

Throughout October, visitors to Eastgate will find a range of activities designed to get Basildon talking.

Eastgate’s Chatty Bench

Take a seat and start a conversation. Our new Chatty Bench will provide a welcoming place to pause, connect and chat, whether you’re catching up with someone you know or simply saying hello.

The bench forms part of Anchor’s Be Well campaign and will remain at Eastgate beyond October, creating a lasting space for conversation and connection.

Community Conversation Days

We’re bringing local community groups, charities and organisations into Eastgate to meet visitors, share information and showcase some of the support, activities and opportunities available across Basildon.

Driving Home

From 28th September to 10th October, Creative Basildon brings Driving Home to Eastgate.

Step inside a black cab for an immersive 20 minute documentary experience sharing the stories of five taxi drivers and exploring ideas of home, journeys and the places and people that connect us.

Start a Conversation

If you’re stopping for something to eat or drink, look out for conversation prompts on tables across our Food Terrace and participating eateries. From memories that make you smile to the people who brighten your day, they’re designed to get people talking.

You’ll also spot our Tell Someone Today messages around Eastgate throughout the month, with simple reminders to tell someone thank you, I’m proud of you, I appreciate you, you matter or I’ve missed you.

Because sometimes, a little conversation goes a long way.
